Environmentally Friendly Guest House

Wildlife can be seen all over the Yorkshire CoastUntitled-1

We love Scarborough and want visitors to enjoy it now and in the future, which is why we aim to be a green business and provide sustainable tourism.   We are members of the Green Business Tourism Scheme and at our first assessment in 2009, were proud to receive a Silver Award.

What do we do?

In short, we try to reduce energy usage, re-use items where possible and recycle were possible. For full details, have a look at our Green Policy.   But we are happy to answer questions if you have any.

Check out our blog ‘Bugs, Bees and Butterflies, all welcome’ ,  This outlines the attempts since 2012 to create a wildlife garden at Phoenix Court. This isn’t being updated as regularly now but if you have any questions about what we are doing, please just ask  A new blog about our green actions is to be launched soon.

Phoenix Court has  been awarded the Puffin Mark, that is given to wildlife friendly businesses.

Phoenix Court is also a proud supporter of World Responsible Tourism Day held in November each year.  Our first involvement was in 2012.  Click here for more details.

Can You Help?

We don’t want to spoil your holiday, and the smallest actions can make a big difference.  Have a look at our Visitors Charter for more details.

If you have any ideas about what we can do to make our guest house more ‘green’ please go to the discussion point on our Facebook page and post your suggestions there.  There is a link to this from our ‘Contact us’ page.

Fair Trade

We care about the planet as a whole and want people who supply goods to Britain to get a fair wage. This is why we use Fair Trade products wherever possible. All tea, coffee, hot chocolate and sugar used in rooms are Fairtrade. Breakfast coffee and all varieties of tea are also Fairtrade.
